This week we're going to be taking a look at one of the most on-trend interior design styles - Feng Shui. This post introduces Feng shui and looks at proactive ways you can change your rooms and make use of all available space. Over 3500 years ago, the Chinese culture adopted laws that used astrology and the earth as a means of measuring energy force.

It is believed that by bringing Qi, or the energy force into full effect, aesthetics can help all people lead healthier, more productive lives. This system is referred to as Feng shui or wind and water. Qi rides the wind and is scattered throughout the universe, quieted only by the presence of water. There are five phases that create the Feng shui system; metalsofa pillow cases, earth, fire, water and wood.

By living inside a Qi and using these natural elements, the Chinese have created a type of heaven on earth and consider Feng shui essential to human life. With Feng shui becoming a popular type of decorating, many people do not understand the true implications of the results. The first tip in creating a Feng shui environment is to remove all stuck energy. Stuck energy includes energy left behind by previous owners such as furnishings, dirt, and memorabilia.

If you have been in your home for a while you may have your own stuck energy in the form of clutter, old clothes and books and other items that hinder the smooth flow of energy. Dirt, grease and grime are other factors of stuck energy that need to be removed.

Including a hotel style en-suite bathroom in the design of your new bedroom may seem like an appealing option. The luxury of having your own personal pampering area within the confines of the bedroom does sound like the epitome of home luxury. Often however the idea is better than the actuality as en-suites are often cramped and unusable due to a poor layout. If you are thinking of building your own en-suite, adhering to just a few simple guidelines will see to it that you avoid such needles but expensive mistakes and ensure your en-suite is a complete success.
